What a joy that was!
At the 12th Raw Materials Day in early July in Speyer, State Secretary Andy Becht from the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture, and Viticulture presented the Rhineland-Palatinate Raw Materials Innovation Award 2023 to Dr. Schaefer and Dr. Schnebeck! We were awarded for implementing an innovative process that ensures that the high-purity calcium carbonate from our quarry in Baling, Malaysia, remains highly pure even during processing.
Here’s how it works: First, the limestone is carefully sorted visually, and any possible adhesions are washed off. The pre-crushed product is then processed into powder using a special grinding technology. This technology prevents the entry of foreign substances (such as abrasion from the grinding mill). Unlike synthetically produced high-purity calcium carbonate, our process is not only significantly simpler but also more sustainable, as it avoids the use of chemicals and largely minimizes residual materials.
Congratulations to the lab team, to whom we owe this award!
