As part of the approval process, the Regional Council of Giessen has instructed us to establish two additional groundwater monitoring wells at Hengen. The preparatory work for this is currently underway. Initially, the designated areas must be prepared so that the drilling rig can safely be positioned there. For the first monitoring well, we have already completed this "foundation" (see photo). Over the next two weeks, we can now set up the construction site and then promptly commence drilling for the groundwater monitoring well.
The preparatory work for the foundation for the second drilling rig has also begun. However, here we first need to properly dispose of large amounts of illegally deposited waste (construction debris, vehicle tires, plastic, scrap metal).
Overall, the drilling operations will take approximately 10 weeks. Upon completion of the monitoring wells, the areas will be restored to their original condition. The monitoring wells will be operated permanently and will provide reliable data not only for us but also for the authorities and the local communities for many years.
